The Choice of the Consoles

Hoping this will help you decide on which console to buy.

Well if you are reading this then you are most probably looking to buy a new console but which one do you want if it is between the Xbox 360, PS3 or even the Wii. This can be a very hard choice but hopefully this will help you.

All prices have been worked on by Amazon sites to find the best deals so these prices may not actually be the most accurate due to price inflation and different times of search.

Xbox 360

Ok first of all let's look at the Xbox 360 and the premium system. This is the standard model which has this:

  • 20GB Hard Drive (included with premium but need to buy with core and elite has 120GB hard drive),
  • Wireless Controller,
  • Headset,
  • Ethernet Cable,
  • Connections to T.V,
  • 1 Month Free Trial of Xbox Live,
  • The UK lowest price is £179.99 - Amazon UK
  • The USA lowest price is $349.99 - Amazon
  • Average price of newly released game - £50.00, $60.00

With the 360 being out for a long time there are a lot more games than what the other consoles have and with Microsoft (the console makers) designing games there are also exclusives to the Xbox such as the Halo series. The Xbox 360 is the console if you want online gaming as there is a huge online gaming community which you can be a part of by buying Xbox live gold membership.

The Xbox is the console for online gaming as it is harder and you have a lot more people to play with. Games on the 360 will be continuously updated and you can still have these updates by purchasing them by using Microsoft Points which you will have to buy. If you don't like the colour of your Xbox you can change it by purchasing faceplates for it.

Playstation 3

Now we go to the PS3 and we will go for the standard size of 40GB. Ok so this model has:
Internal 40GB HDD for storing your games, music, and photos

  • Built-in Blu-ray player
  • Cell Broadband Engine advanced microprocessor
  • SIXAXIS wireless controller
  • The UK lowest price is £284.99 - Amazon.co.uk
  • The USA lowest price is $399.99 - Amazon.com

Average price of newly released price is - £50.00, $60.00

Ok so the PS3 has been out for a bit now but there still is a huge difference with the amount of games available between the 360 and the PS3. Online play is available and it is free but unfortunately there are not so many players so the standard is not that much but it still worth going online if you can. Although the PS3 is the first console to include blu-ray player, there are not actually many things that you can use with it so in my opinion it is not worth looking at.

Nintendo Wii

Now we go to the last choice of the consoles that you will be considering. I would warn you though that if you don't like exercising for your enjoyment too much then this is not the console for you as you are very much wanted to work hard to play hard. So let's see what just the plain Wii includes.

Includes Wii Sports (bowling, boxing, baseball, tennis and golf)

Also includes:

  • One wireless Wii Remote and one Nunchuk
  • Plays two disc formats in a single, self-loading media bay
  • Features a processing chip from IBM and a graphics chip from ATI
  • Completely backward compatible, all the way to the NES of the 1980s
  • Built-in Wi-Fi access for easy connection to Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection gaming service
  • Online Wii Channel for news, weather, photo viewing, message boards and more
  • Supports up to 4 GameCube controllers
  • SD card slot
  • Fully compatible with GameCube games
  • Comes with A/V cable and UK power adapter
  • The UK lowest price is £179.99 - Amazon.co.uk
  • The USA lowest price is $305.99 - Amazon.com
  • Average price of newly released games - £20-£30, $30-$50

Ok well here in the UK the Nintendo Wii was highly rated for Christmas but since then without the rapid increase of games the Wii has become a boring thing for many people who have it now.

There is a big danger with the Wii that you might be straining muscles so always warm up before hand. You can buy games online for the Wii which are payable by Wii Points which you can buy from retailers. You can play with your friends but same with the PS3 it is not that many players. With different games coming out they require for maximum enjoyment for you to buy another hand held controller which unfortunately you have to buy and with all of this being cheap material it is easily breakable. If you don't like the look of your Wii you can buy faceplates for it.

So I have reviewed the best selling consoles of this year and I hope that through reading this you have decided which console you would prefer. If you want to work for your enjoyment then you should be considering the Wii, if not then don't consider it. The only way you can decide between the Xbox 360 & the PS3 is to decide it by budget or see how many of your friends have whichever one so then you can get more online play.

Ok no players was just in comparisin to the Xbox, You will only get lag if your connection speed is not up to the job and the waiting thing, well you only need to wait at most 40 seconds per game. Thanks for your views anyway, I will be having to do an updated version of this soon as it is 11 days old and already alot has changed.
