Yoda in Star Wars Battlefront Two for Playstation 2

This is a guide for using Yoda against villains in Mos Eisley Assault in Star Wars Battlefront two for Playstation 2.

Introduction

If you're trying to use Yoda in Mos Eisley Assault for Battlefront 2, you've probably noticed that he has very little health and cannot stun any characters, except with Backslash and sometimes with Pull and Push. Using Yoda requires careful strategy and having to act as a "Kill-Stealer."

Backslash

The main problem with Yoda is that he cannot stun (or knock down) his enemies without any of his moves- except for backslash. Backslashing involves moving backwards and pressing [R1], or lightsaber attack, at the same time. For Yoda, this is important because it leaves the opponent open to Yoda's strong attacks when they are fully stunned. However, executing the backslash properly is very difficult because by the time Yoda reaches his opponent, he is often attacked (and stunned) by the target. I have found that it is useful to sprint around an opponent and then backslash. However, even this is very difficult to execute without being attacked yourself. Some other backslash tactics are to Force Pull [L1], then move around the target and backslash, or to jump over the target and then backslash (this is generally useless because most targets can chop you up while you are in the air.) The final method is to Force Pull [L1] the target, turn around with the Right Joystick, and then backslah. Because Backslash is so hard to execute, it is important to rely on other methods and to risk a backslash only when you can afford to lose a bit of health.

Yoda's Best Bet: Scavenging from Rooftops

Because of Yoda's weakness in knocking opponents over and the fact that he is knocked over often, it is generally a good idea to only attack enemies without full health. Also, it is wise to stick to the rooftops. When on buildings with dome attachments, Yoda is often partially or fully covered by the dome. Not only is there the advantage of cover, but Yoda can also just jump down from the roof tops and attack weak enemies, or pull enemies up to him and start an [R1] fest to kill them. The point is, if you think you're going to be able to do well with Yoda by taking on full-health enemies, you're probably mistaken. Just stick to the rooftops, going down to the ground occasionally, and often clinging to walls to lessen affects of pushing (See Yoda Versus Pushers)

Yoda Versus the Fetts

The Fetts (namely Jango and Boba Fett) are, for the most part, the easiest villains to kill. True, it's annoying when they keep jetpacking away, but Yoda can always just Force pull [L1] them back and chop away with a normal Lightsaber attack or Backslash (preferable in this case; immobilizing the Fetts stops them form Jetpacking). If the Fett you are facing is bold and starts shooting at you at close range, you might have some trouble. In this case, it is best to Force Pull [L1] and then Backslash (See Backslash). In the end, however, the Fetts shouldn't give Yoda much trouble.

Yoda Versus Pushers

There is only one villain Pusher- Darth Maul. His Push combined with a sprint attack can sometimes finish a Yoda off very quickly. While it is possible to survive an encounter with Maul after he Pushes you, it is difficult and quite unlikely to happen. The method of surviving his Push is to simply jump out of it, and hope he doesn't catch you. This is easer on walls, where Pushing doesn't carry you far (See Yoda's Best Bet: Scavenging from Rooftops). For the most part, only attack low health Mauls; this way they have less life during which they can Push you.

Yoda Versus Grievous

Grievous is my nemesis in Battlefront 2 when I play as Yoda. Once he catches you in his saber technique, you are generally dead meat. However, there are 2 holes (or openings) in his devastating attack, one near the beginning and another near the end. Still, it is a bad idea to attempt to get him during these holes, as this requires careful precision. Grievous's lightsaber technique is as useful as his resiliency to Force Push [L1] and Force Pull [L1]. Grievous hardly moves with a Push or Pull! For this reason, you generally want to just surprise Grievous from a rooftop when he has low health. Otherwise, avoid him.

Yoda Versus Chockers

The Chokers (namely Darth Vader, Anakin Skywalker, The Emperor, and Count Dooku) are deadly once you are caught in a choke. Truth be told, ther eis nothing you can do once, you are choking. However, some chokers tend to underestimate Yoda and drop him early before moving in with a normal saber attack. In this case, just tap [X]  to Force Jump far away. Luckily, Choke has very little range and does very little damage.

Keep in mind that this is just a general guide for using Yoda. Your tactics may differ form mine. Have fun with the green scavenger!

This is a great video (not me playing):
