Picto-Chat
Picto-Chat is a feature that allows people with the Nintendo DS to chat in an IM (Instant messenger) format to anybody in range. The nice part of this program is that you can draw small pictures on the screen to send to up to 16 people in one of the four chat rooms.
DS Download Play
DS Download Play is one of the more useful features of the DS, it involves one person owning a multiplayer game such as Mario Kart DS and setting up DS Download Play so that he/she shares Pat of the game to everybody with a DS around so that they can play a game involving everybody who joined in
The Touch Screen
The DS features a touch screen which allows Nintendo to create a new format for games that they could not make with the Gameboy's keys and buttons. The touch screen allows the consumer to apply text at a much faster rate than with arrow keys. Also it allows Nintendo to create FPS (First Person Shooters) games tank involve aiming rather than turning and shooting or stopping to snipe down.
Wi-Fi
The integrated Wi-Fi in the Nintendo DS is a milestone for Nintendo. Wi-fi allows gamers to PVP against others over the internet. Wi-fi is used by many games for the DS, in the pokemon series players could only battle against each other through special cords connecting their gameboys or with special wireless connectors (Pokemon Fire Red and Pokemon Leaf Green), but now players can battle other people from around the world if they have PAL codes. Pokemon trading was promoted by Nintendo by making a pokemon stronger every user it switches, the problem with this was that it was so inconvenient to meet with a group of people to trade. Now with Wi-Fi and a new feature in the pokemon series people can now trade over the internet.
