The sound and graphics quality were smooth and clear, and I thought I was riding high in video game heaven. Mine is the Pokemon center New York version, so I really believed I had an exceptional system.
Sad to say, but that side trip into video game heaven did not last. For a few months after getting used to my original GBA portable system, here comes a more improved version of the same GBA, the GBA SP.
Gamers who had not yet purchased an original GBA had an advantage. They would not feel as if they had spent their hard earned cash on a system that was now in the shadows of the GBA SP.
Something that frustrated me at the time, especially when I looked in the direction of my original GBA. I asked myself, why does Nintendo do this?
Why not get it all right the first time as opposed to having video gamers purchase one handheld system today, when in a few months they will have a newer and more sleek, compact version of the same system out?
I should like to think that I am not the only one who has felt as if she has wasted money on one system when there is a newer, better one out there that I would have gladly waited for. In the same way, I found myself at their mercy again when they came out with the original Nintendo DS portable system.
The new and improved Nintendo DS Lite has outshone the older model so much so, that there are hardly any more original Nintendo DS's available now.
Now don't get me wrong here. I like Nintendo video games. They are highly entertaining, addictive and just fun to play, especially if you have played any of the Legend of Zelda series games.
I just hope next time they come out with a new handheld system, they get it right the first time. Don't make us feel as if we have wasted money on one system today, when you will have a newer, and much improved version of it available in a few months. To some of us, that just does not make any sense. Just get it right the first time, that's all we are asking.
