If you own the original dreamcast game this article for you is legal however if you don’t own the dreamcast game and have downloaded it close this article off as you are breaking the law.
For example I bought dead or alive 2 limited edition of ebay and wanted to play it on my dreamcast, however my dreamcast right now is having a nervous breakdown, if I want to play games I am going to have to pay £35 for it to be fixed.
No way in hell I’m I paying for it again, I downloaded an emulator and got a dreamcast BIOS, this is within my rights as I own the dreamcast. I then downloaded a self bootable version of dead or alive 2, limited edition, since I already own the game this as will is within my rights.
However I didn’t check the version and downloaded a echelon release, this means it’s been hacked by the echelon team to run on a CDR, chankast my choice of emulator really doesn’t like this and the game needed to be patched.
To patch the game we need a simple tool called fastboot and a 1st_read.bin file, now to save you time looking on the net here is a place where you can download the tools you will need.
Scroll down the page till you see a reply with these files attached it’s the only place I have ever been able to find these tools.
Next tool we need is daemon tools version 3.29 I must stress that it has to be 3.29 version, no other version that I have tired as worked! Install daemon tools and restart your computer.
Now once you have saved both of the files and saved them to your computer its time to begin. Mount the image of the game into daemon tools and explore the cd take all the data from the cd and drop it into fastboot > DATA folder.
Now move the 1st_read.bin file into the fastboot folder, in the folder there should be a file called ip.bin already. The next step is to open the tool named BINHACK once this is open on the first line type 1st_read.bin and press enter then type ip.bin and press enter.
The tool should close down if it as for a third line type 0,0, once this is done move the 1st_read.bin and ip.bin to the DATA folder, if it asks for you to overwrite a file named 1st_read.bin do so, once this is done move on to the next step.
Click the tool named b2b_game and wait for it to work its magic, this process should take about 5 to 10 minutes, once the tool closes its self away, you should be left with a file called image in the fastboot folder.
Mount this image file in to daemon tools then open chankast and click start, wow look your new patched game is working! Hope this helped.
